Minister of State Noel Treacy, T.D., launches NALA’s “Know your EU”

The Minister of State for European Affairs, Mr Noel Treacy, T.D,  today launched “Know your EU”, an educational resource developed by the National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) and aimed at adult learners and tutors.  “Know your EU” explains in a clear and accessible way what the European Union is, how it works and how it affects the lives of Irish citizens.

NALA received financial assistance from the Communicating Europe Initiative, which is administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and which aims to increase awareness of the European Union amongst the Irish public.

Minister of State Treacy congratulated NALA for its work on the project and said:

"NALA's "Know your EU" will make a valuable contribution to increasing awareness about Europe among NALA clients in an accessible and stimulating way. Europe is so important to Ireland: we all need to understand the basics of what it does, what it doesn't do, and how it works.  I am delighted that the Department of Foreign Affairs' Communicating Europe Initiative was able to fund the development of these materials by NALA".

NALA received €40,000 towards the costs associated with the development of “Know your EU”.
